Race-Ready Helmet Wiring Kits
Crystal-clear comms start at the mic boom. Baja Racing Gear’s Helmet Wiring Kits collection bundles every speaker, mic capsule, and Kevlar-reinforced harness you need to turn a stock SA2020 lid into a race-legal intercom hub. Whether you’re swapping a damaged Nexus lead, adding noise-canceling electret mics to a brand-new carbon shell, or outfitting junior racers with compact 6 Ω speaker sets, this lineup covers Impact, Stilo, Pyrotect, Bell, PyroCell, and more.
Popular Kits & Harnesses
- PCI Elite Gen-2 Helmet Wiring Kit – 150 Ω noise-cancel electret mic, 32 mm low-profile speakers, and detachable 4-pin Nexus jack.
- Rugged AlphaBass 2-Speaker Kit – dual-driver bass speakers for chase-truck playlists; 3.5 mm music split built in.
- Stilo WRC Intercom Kit – dynamic mic + 300 Ω speakers on quick-disconnect waterproof pigtail.
- Impact 6 Ω Youth Wiring Harness – short lead and mini speakers to fit XS helmets without foam carve-outs.
- Comlink RTX Kevlar Loom – ¼-inch Kevlar sleeve, EMI shield, and gold-plated TA5 on 6-foot coil cord.
Baja-Proof Features
Every harness uses oxygen-free tinned copper conductors, Kevlar tensile strands, and silicone jackets rated −40 °F to 250 °F. Gold-plated plating shrugs off salt fog; molded strain reliefs survive 150 lb pull tests. Speakers attach via ultra-thin VHB pads that won’t peel in desert heat. Mic booms feature replaceable foam wind socks and adjustable flex memory rods so you can position the capsule <10 mm from lips for perfect audio gain.
Compatibility Matrix
4-Pin Nexus: PCI, Rugged, Comlink RTX
5-Pin Stilo: ST5, ST5.1 rally helmets
TA5 / Redel: FluidLogic hydration-integrated lids
3.5 mm TRRS: GoPro, mobile radio recorders
Installation Tips
- Heat visor to 90 °F and remove cheek pads before routing cables behind EPS.
- Trim speaker pockets with a Dremel if necessary—never cut the EPS crush zone.
- Set mic gain on your intercom after sealing the skirt to ensure real-world audio levels.
Performance Hack
Mount the left speaker 2 mm higher than the right to balance stereo imaging when your head leans under G-force. You’ll hear co-driver calls at equal volume even in hard cornering.
